Well, to answer the question up above, I have been a whole lotta places! With my Design Team terms ending at Market Street Stamps and 365 Cards, I decided that I needed to give myself a blogging break. That’s not to say that I completely gave up on the blog or that I didn’t get any crafting done, but I thought I could use a little vacation (not to mention, I was barely home for the month’s of June and July.)
Rather than get into all the places that we have been, I thought I would do more of a photo montage with not a lot of talking. (Sorry about the quality of some of the photos, most were taken with my phone and then had a filter added to them.) 🙂 Now how happy are you?
So my adventures started with a road trip to Arkansas for a very close friend of mine son’s wedding. It was just my oldest and I on the trip and I have got to tell you that it was such a wonderful bonding experience. We were able to laugh and talk and just be silly together. I look forward to doing it again some time soon!
We arrived a few day’s before the wedding, so I tried to help out as much as possible and was given a task of making a bride and groom from some mini liquor bottles to top the groom’s cake. I think I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself. 😉
This was my daughter at the reception. I think she had a pretty great time even though her biggest childhood crush was just married to another woman. 🙂
We left a few days after the wedding and headed home quick so that we could unpack and repack to go on a long weekend camping trip. We go to this campground every year and the kids always have a great time swimming and playing. Though, we did have a slight hiccup while the kids were playing their own version of Man Tracker. After that, it was required that an adult go along. (Well, it is a pretty large campground where a team could easily wind up not where they were thought to have been. ;))
After a quick 4 days home we left again for the USA World Cup in Blaine, MN. We were all just expecting to go and have a great time, but since the youngest’s team is pretty darn good, they made it all the way to the Championship game. The final game came down to a double overtime and a shootout. Unfortunately, the other team was able to sneak a ball past our keeper and we came in 2nd overall. Not a bad end to the tournament though.
Before we made our way home, we decided to make a stop off at Ikea and the Mall of America. This was the girls’ first trip to either place and they had a ball (especially on the rides at the mall.)
After a nice three day spell of not travelling, we were on the road again to Door County, WI. Now this is my favorite place to go camping! Even though this is another place we come yearly, and we often come up here to visit my husband’s family, I never tire of DC. It is just all that is wonderful in the world. Hand made crafts, not a franchised restaurant for miles and miles, and so much peace and quiet.
It is pretty much a ritual of the things we do, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Here is a picture of the girls in the pool. Even though it was pretty chilly weather all week long, the girls can’t seem to resist the call of the bean shaped, heated pool.
This was the first time that the girls and I have been cherry picking since we have been coming up here. There is nothing like having a batch of freshly picked sweet cherries.
While the husband takes the dog for a hike along the shore to the next park down the road, the girls and I hang back for a photoshoot. This is another thing that we do yearly and the big one insists that this will be where we take her senior pictures. (I don’t disagree, though I do think that the time for senior pictures is approaching at too fast of a speed.)
And mixed in with all of the trips that we took there were birthday parties, graduation parties, work travel and a multitude of other events that I am sure I would all bore you to tears with.
So overall, even though I took a vacation from the blogging world, I sure was busy being a mom, wife, aunt, sister, friend and tourist.
Though it didn’t show here, I was still able to get some crafting time in, even while on the road, and next week, I will share with you exactly how I did that. You will be amazed with how simple it can be done!
Like I said in yesterday’s post, I have several new things that I will be debuting in the next couple of weeks and I can’t wait to share with you. 🙂
