Hello and welcome to another Pinterest Inspired Project day!!
Today I am sharing Chalk Mugs. Most of my family members are coffee/tea drinkers, and I thought this would be a really cool gift for them for Christmas. (I know, I can’t believe I am thinking about that already!)
Here is the original picture and the link to where I found it:
Here is my finished project:
Hers, I think, were a little bit easier because the mugs didn’t taper at the bottom, which made it harder to get a straight line.
But here’s what I used to get started:
And the steps I followed:
Here are a few notes that might give you extra help along the way:
-If you notice in step 1, I used a long acrylic stamp block. That was super easy to follow with the pencil because it was able to stand on its own.
-If you handle the mug in between marking the line and laying the tape down, it is likely that your line will transfer onto your hands.
-It was easier to get a straight line using smaller pieces of tape and overlapping them some because of the tapering of the mug.
-I wasn’t a real fan of the Martha Stewart Chalkboard paint. It didn’t dry as smooth as I would have liked it to.
-These mugs probably can’t go through the dishwasher, and I do not know if they would be microwave safe with the paint on them.
And here is a closer look:
All in all, I think my family will really enjoy them seeing as now they won’t get there mugs confused with others! I will eventually make a set for each of my siblings and mom and I will share them when I am done. 🙂
