Hello and welcome to the next installment of my Pinterest Inspired Projects.
Today I will show you how I made this lovely canvas:
I really wanted a one of a kind gift for my cousin who got married last weekend, so I hit the Pinterest boards and found this project:
I have been seeing these types of canvases for a while floating out there in Pinterest land, but I thought I might give mine a little something with a pop of color in there.
My goal was to fit the Beatles lyric “All you need is love” on there, but when I went to Hobby Lobby for my canvas, I found this gorgeous burlap canvas with gesso already covering most of it. I could not find wood letters in a font that I liked and was also small enough, so I decided to go with large letters for LOVE and a heart.
Here are the supplies I used:
Now, before I show you how I did it, I want to give you a couple of tips that I think would be useful:
– Make sure to sand any edges and the top of the letters if you want a nice clean, smooth look to your letters. I did not sand mine because I like the handmade look of these type of gifts.
– Even if you don’t sand, you will want to wipe down the wood pieces with a damp cloth and let them dry.
– I used E6000 glue to adhere my painted pieces to the canvas. This is a very strong glue and has instructions that you WILL want to read before starting (i.e. applying glue to the item you are gluing down and the item you are glueing it too).
Okay, now for the steps I took:
I hope that you enjoyed today’s Pinterest Inspired Project, I know that I had a lot of fun making this one, and will probably make another one in the future!
